A new innovation initiative aimed at providing solutions to problems facing Australia and Japan  launched last December with a unique cross-cultural Startup program.

Called Innovation Dojo and based out of UNSW Innovations, the program brought together a diverse group of young entrepreneurs and Japanese speakers, both Australian and Japanese, to learn and work together on business ideas that would contribute to both cultures. An international network of speakers, mentors and judges all provided input. This culminated in a pitching competition with the top teams winning a trip to Japan to refine their plans.

Innovation is a keyword for the Australia-Japan relationship since PMs Abe and Turnbull signed an MOU on Innovation, Science and Technology in December 2015.

Speakers will include Jason Hayes,Partner and leader of the PwC Japan Practice in Asia Pacific, who will give an update on the startup ecosystem in Japan, and Joshua Flannery of UNSW Innovations who will describe Innovation Dojo's recent activities.

The 'star' teams from the Innovation Dojo program, V-KAIWA and ChewmonGo, will present on their trip and insights gained.

There will be opportunity for questions and discussion, followed by networking with refreshments.

This is a not-to-be-missed event for anyone interested in the future of Australia-Japan business.

The evening is sponsored by AJS-NSW corporate member PwC who will host us at their new offices in Barangaroo.

Attendance at this event is free by registration. Sign-up online.
