One of the most significant events of the Society’s year is the presentation of awards to outstanding students of Japanese studies across the six universities in the greater Sydney region sponsored by AJS-NSW.
The event is even more prestigious as the awards will be presented to the students by the Consul-General of Japan in Sydney, Mr. Masato Takaoka.
The Consul-General will also deliver the keynote speech of the evening, providing insights into recent developments in the Australia-Japan relationship and the opportunities and challenges which will emerge in the coming year for business and Government.
Each of the students receiving the award will outline their interest in Japan, their reasons for pursuing Japanese studies and their plans for the future.
The awards ceremony will be followed by a networking reception. This annual event is always a lively evening. We look forward to welcoming members and friends and especially our awardees and their lecturers to celebrate the ongoing strength of Japan studies.
