The Japanese stock market has seen exponential growth lately after years of the doldrums, finally providing favourable returns to long-suffering investors.

What is actually happening in the Japanese stock market to cause this growth? What has been the impact of Abenomics or are other factors at play? What has been the impact of corporate governance issues and pressure for diversity?

These and other issues will be addressed by Scott Gilchrist, manager of the Platinum Japan Fund. Scott has recently returned from a trip to Japan, and will provide a perspective on the Japanese economy and where he sees the investment opportunities short and long-term.

Platinum Investment Management Limited is an Australian based fund manager which specialises in investing in international equities.  Since its foundation in 1994, the company has grown to encompass a range of global, regional and sector investment products as well as a global listed investment company on the ASX.

The Japan Fund invests in Japanese and Korean stocks, ideally 40 to 80 securities that Platinum believes to be undervalued by the market. The proportion of Korean stocks is limited to 25%. The Fund has returned 51.9% in the year ended 31 May 2015.
