AJS Business Series 2010
Investing in Australia-Managing Political Risk
Featuring our speaker
n Michael Priebe, Founding Partner of Statecraft
Held in conjunction with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sydney (JCCI), this event will focus on the political and regulatory risks of investing in Australia.
The previous Federal Government’s intention to tax mining industry “super profits”, a hung parliament and the growing strength of the Australian Greens party all seem to point to a change in the investment environment. Australia has always rated highly as a safe and stable destination for foreign investment, but there are increasing political and regulatory risks emerging across a range of sectors.
The discussion will include time for Q&A, followed by networking over drinks.
Background of speaker:
Mr. Michael Priebe is an economist by training, with a broad background in corporate planning and government relations. Before establishing Statecraft, for several years he worked on the staff of the Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister for Trade, the Hon Mark Vaile.
