Japanese investment in Australia continues to grow with a range of high-profile investments, M&A and business development.

How does Australia encourage this investment? What are the facts about recent trends in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Australia, and what role is Japan playing? 

Hear from Jane Madden, General Manager and Head of Investment, Australian Trade Commission. Jane will also cover Australia’s business environment and capabilities; and Austrade’s business model for promoting and attracting investment, particularly in the Government’s priority sectors.

Jane joined Austrade to lead the Investment Division in February 2013.
She brings experience across a wide range of policy, corporate and strategic positions with the Departments of and Resources, Energy and Tourism (RET) and Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). She has worked overseas extensively, with postings to Paris, UN, Tokyo and Pretoria/Cape Town and head of mission experience. Other previous roles include Head of Tourism Division (RET) and Australia’s lead negotiator for investment, services and intellectual property in DFAT’s Office of Trade Negotiations.

Jane has qualifications in Economics, Japanese, law (from ANU and University of Tasmania) and a Graduate Certificate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She speaks several languages, including Japanese and French.
